Reading Circle

We welcome people who love reading and want to share their love, whether they are full of opinions or want to develop some.
Most of what we read is contemporary, almost always novels, but we occasionally include poetry or biography, and each year we cover one classic.
The first two book of the 2005/6 season will be Star of the Sea by Joseph O'Connor (October) and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (November). at our first meeting we will draw up a list of books for the rest of the season.

Some of the books we have discussed in the past are:

Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens

Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda Foreman

Birthday Letters by Ted Hughes

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt

Atonement by Ian McEwan

A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry

The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman

The Human Stain by Philip Roth

Unless by Carol Shields
